From Survival to Healing
My path to becoming a therapist and counsellor began with my own story of survival and healing.
From as early as six, I stepped into roles of caregiving, peacekeeping, and problem-solving—roles that helped me survive a painful and chaotic childhood.
They taught me strength, but they also silenced parts of who I was.
As I grew older, the echoes of those experiences showed up as:
- Difficulty regulating emotions
- People-pleasing
- Feeling responsible for everyone else’s feelings
- Suppressing my needs and never feeling “enough”
- Anxiety, self-doubt, and burnout
- A deep yearning to know who I was beneath it all
For years, I lived in survival mode—disconnected from myself and unaware that these were the long shadows of trauma.
The Turning Point
My healing began when I finally understood how trauma lives in the body and nervous system.
Even when life was calm, I was still bracing for impact.
Through therapy, breathwork, and deep inner-child healing, I learned to listen to my body’s signals, honour my emotions, and treat myself with compassion.
I discovered that my survival patterns were once intelligent—they kept me safe—but they no longer served me.
Healing meant gently teaching my body that it was finally safe to rest and receive care.
Today
Today, as a trauma-informed Guyanese-Canadian psychotherapist, I help others do the same:
reconnect with themselves, heal generational patterns, and come home to the parts of them that have been waiting to be seen.
My work is grounded in

Lived experience & cultural sensitivity

Nervous-system awareness & breathwork

Authenticity, compassion, & safety
I work with clients from all backgrounds, and I hold a special space for those from Caribbean and South Asian families who carry the unspoken weight of intergenerational expectations.
Healing isn’t a straight line—it’s a relationship with yourself built on gentleness and courage.
